Westward extension from the Phase 0 southern terminus. The Phase 0-6 spur runs from Melbourne through western Victoria into South Australia, terminating at Adelaide — connecting two of Australia's largest capitals on the SBC network.
Phase 0-6 connects Melbourne to Adelaide via the south-eastern corridor through western Victoria. Together with Phase 0 (Melbourne–Brisbane) it gives Melbourne direct SBC access to both major eastern and southern capitals. MMC-VB dual-leg two-deck — freight is the driver; maglev passenger rides on the upper deck at marginal cost.
Route alignment is indicative. The corridor shown on the project map is a suggested alignment based on the current planning case. Final geometry is subject to detailed engineering — terrain survey, geotechnical analysis, environmental and cultural heritage assessment, and stakeholder consultation will determine the final alignment at detailed design.
System-level engineering applicable to Phase 0-6 is catalogued in the Library. The Phase 0 corridor establishes the Newcastle Megafactory and the construction methodology that all subsequent phases inherit. Project-specific Phase 0-6 documentation will be added here as the engineering matures.
